The COIL experience is inspiring and rewarding.  It requires knowledge and commitment.  It promotes diversity and global awareness among students and enhances professional development. PIC-AMERICAS supports professors during three stages: networking, training, and implementing their COIL component:

Networking

The COIL experience starts with the identification of a COIL teaching partner. You can connect with other educators to create a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) course. You are invited to use these channels that PIC-Americas is offering:

Training:

Once you are paired to work with a colleague from another country to develop a COIL component, you are welcome to apply for a COIL Design workshop. The COIL teaching team can be integrated by two or more professors from different institutions in the Americas. Each workshop is four weeks long and the team must choose one scheduled session from the calendar. Faculty members must apply individually but participate together. For more information about dates and how to apply

Mentoring:

At the end of the COIL Design workshop you are ready to implement your COIL component. But you are not alone! A COIL expert will be assigned to become your MENTOR and walk along with you during your COIL component, providing feedback, orientation, and support to make the COIL experience successful for you and for your students!

We are looking forward to supporting you to start your own COIL experience!
