5. About Workshops – Important Dates

The call for participation in the NORTH AMERICA PIC is open to U.S., Mexican and Canadian faculty interested in teaching a course with a COIL component during 2024. You are invited to participate in our activities:

1) ACADEMIC SPEED DATING sessions:

Attending the Academic Speed Dating Sessions to enable you to to meet COIL teaching partners from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. It is an event that seeks to provide the opportunity to detect who could become your COIL teaching partners. We have several dates during the semester available to fit your agenda. All sessions are on Wednesdays from 11:00 am – 12:30 pm (Mexico City’s time).

COIL Design Workshop

1) COIL DESIGN WORKSHOP This is an asynchronous online workshop oriented to provide to participants, all the knowledge and tools required to offer a COIL course. It includes main aspects of the COIL methodology as well as coaching from experts to design the COIL component to be implemented simultaneously in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The workshop includes access to the PIC US-MX educational platform and live sessions every week for interacting with instructors and other participants. In addition, participants are able to communicate anytime with instructors for individual advice. At the end of the workshop, participants must present the complete design of activities to be accomplished during the COIL component. Participants must have a trilateral/bilateral teaching team for being accepted into these workshops. It is recommended to participate in this workshop during the academic term before the COIL component is offered. Please remember that all the members of the same COIL teaching team must participate in the same COIL Design workshop. COIL design workshops are 4-week long, with asynchronous access to the educational platform and weekly live sessions, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (Mexico City time). Trilateral/bilateral COIL teaching teams receive a scholarship to participate in the training program. Don't miss out on this exceptional and one-of-a-kind opportunity!
